Would appreciate any suggestions. .i.e. places to eat around the areas we visit, any other activities we might be able squeeze into our schedule. I believe around this time of the year there will be autumn foliage but I think we will just see them during the trip. Unless there’s specific places we should go to.

Also one question about Shinkansen, I have googled this but got very conflicting information. Do I need to book the Shinkansen well in advance? For example, my first Shinkansen will be from Tokyo to Kyoto on 23 Nov, can I just turn up at the station and book the next train or do I need to book a few days before like some blog suggests?

It looks like to go from Asakusa to Tokyo on 23 Nov, I have to transit at Shinagawa.

Thank you!

  1. that kyoto part is not too bad… well done.

I am missing higashiyama though?! maybe you can explore higashiyama on nov. 24th.
head to fushimi inari before nara 29th ?

i dont know how full the bus tour will make the day. kurama and day hike will also leave some good afternoon time to explore

maybe you can also fit in kinkakuji some afternoon

you want some suggestion for places and activities to squeeze in.

I suggest the following. explore the area where you at. find the hidden things. look for those “you are here” maps, and see what else they have mapped out, and walk there. you will find many good things that way, and you are there anyway.
