I am currently job hunting as a teacher and every contract I have seen so far has had something along the lines of:
If you cancel a lesson one day before or later we will deduct X amount from your next paycheck.
If you decide to quit and don’t tell us at least two months in advance we will deduct X amount from your paycheck.
I can understand not getting payed for work you didn’t do obviously, but being monetarily punished for cancelling lessons? What if I suddenly catch Covid, what if a family member dies, or any other kind of emergency?
Is this normal? Is it even legal?
