I was looking forward to going to the Tsukiji Honganji bon odori festival, and several websites I checked listed it as being held as normal, but apparently they have some ridiculous [ticketing system](https://tsukijihongwanji.jp/news/6283/) in place that you need to have registered for way in advance. The majority of the other traditional festivals, hanabi displays etc. are canceled because *clearly* it is standing outdoors that gives you covid.
Does anyone have information about events that are actually taking place?
I was happy to see the Gion festival taking place in Kyoto without huge changes last month. I have also found that the [Awa Odori festival](https://www.awaodorimirai.com/) is going ahead. What is there to see in Japan this August?
