Hello! I am not sure if this is the right place for this but, I am planning to cosplay a character who wears a kimono, and I cannot find anywhere a clear answer to is it okay to wear facial piercings with a kimono or is it rude to keep them in (i can’t remove my piercings so i’d like to know) and also is eyeliner and fake lashes okay? (Nothing very unnatural, shot fake eyelashes and a slim eyeliner).
Thank you!

Its cosplay. Youre fine.
From what I’ve seen and heard, Japanese people don’t worry about cultural appropriation- they think it’s cool when tourists like their traditional clothing. It’s the white people who make a fuss.
you can do anything you want with it even if it wasn’t a cosplay, I’ve seen japanese wearing kimono with makeup and piercings, it’d be hypocritical to say you can’t do it
wearing the normal clothing common somewhere else, cosplay or otherwise, is fine. just don’t dress up “as a different race”, i.e. no fake slanted eyes, no yellowface, etc.
