  1. Why not use a chat service like HelloTalk and talk to an actual person? That way you can learn AND make contacts in Japan.

  2. AI is terrible for learning – try Hello Talk, ITalki, Discord groups, or local meetups. For writing there’s WritestreakJP here on Reddit, start a JP only Twitter, or again there’s Discord

  3. they’re not designed for this and they frequently lie very convincingly about things, so no, it’s not a great idea

bite the bullet and chat with humans. mistakes and awkwardnesses will be normal, they’re part of the learning experience. multisensory and multi-emotional engagement are force multipliers in learning, particularly language learning

  4. Some people can’t get it through their heads that you may just not want to talk to people, at least right now at this point. With the kind of people who gave responses here, I also don’t blame you for preferring to speak to virtual people… That’s completely natural, and you should not be shamed for that. You didn’t ask, “How can I improve my speaking the fastest?” You asked what chatbots are good to use. Here are the answers, as others thus far have only disrespected you.

    1) Use Bing Chat on a Microsoft Edge browser and ask it to speak to you in Japanese.

    2) Go to https://bard.google.com and ask it to speak to you in Japanese.
