Itinerary Review. Japan 15 days in Fall

First time in Japan which I am really excited about! My itinerary does feel jam packed so would really be good to know what places could be cut out, I’m going during the fall so I would love to see some of the key places for the foliage. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

* Tokyo day 1 Northern Tokyo – Asakusa, Skytree, Akihabara
* Tokyo day 2 Western Tokyo – Meiji, Yoyogi, Shibuya, Shinjuku
* Nikko Day trip – Shine, Bridge, Town, Waterfall
* Disney Sea Disneysea, visit disneyland after 6pm too
* Lake Kawaguchi Day trip – Mt Fuji views, nature, village (?)
* Kamakura Day trip from Tokyo, Head to Kyoto after (2.5h)
* Kyoto day 1 East Kyoto – Fushima inari, temples, old streets
* Kyoto day 2 Arashiyama (bamboo grove), monkey park + Northern temples, philosopher path
* Kyoto day 3/ Himeji Central kyoto + himeji, go to osaka at night(?)
* Osaka 1 day in Osaka (castle etc)
* Hiroshima Day trip, 1 day in Hiroshima and Miyajima
* Universal studios 1 day in Universal Studios
* Nara Day trip, 1 day in Nara, Head to Tokyo after (3h)
* Tokyo day 3 Chill day – half = odaiba and teamlabs
* Tokyo day 4 Free day (shopping?, can decide) – leave for airport at 8pm

  1. Nikko as a daytrip, if you want to see both shine/temple and waterfall, it is possible but really rushed. If you want to have time to explore and do a little hike, that’s more a 2 days trip or just limit yourself to one area, shrine or waterfall.

    Miyajima and Hiroshima is also a full day trip. Possible, go to Miyajima first, you need to go early, morning there, likely no time to go up Mount Misen, especially not hiking, lunch there, the local specialty is oyster. Move to Hiroshima for peace museum and park, okonomiyaki for dinner and back to Kyoto. You want that order as almost everything close around 5pm in Miyajima.

    Overall it’s ok. For me it’s not bad if an itinerary is full, as long as you are able to make priority and drop things during the day if you see you planned too much.

  2. I would suggest there are other less busy places to see a bamboo grove, but if you’re wanting to see the monkeys then go ahead but know the grove is highly busy and short
