Shop for second hand foreign books?

Hey guys so I wanted to buy a book in English but can’t seem to find any shop that has foreign literature books specially a cheap used books like in other countries or maybe I just can’t find it. Can anyone suggest me a place if there are any?
Thanks in advance.

  1. Amazon often has things.

    Abebooks works too.

Not aware of any used bookstores dedicated to English books.

  2. The Book Off outlets in Machida, Jiyugaoka, and Gotanda have the largest collections I know of in Tokyo, but if you simply want to read, rather than own, the book, check the local library. Most will have interlibrary loan systems, and the places you live and work or study will give you a library card.

(Edit: Thanks to u/Iwabuti for reminding me of the correct name of Gotanda.)

  3. I’ve heard of Infinity Books in Tokyo, but I’ve not been myself so I can’t vouch for its range.

Otherwise I just search for titles I want on Mercari (just in case I get lucky) or buy online.

  4. I get mine from Mercari or Book Off.
Book Off Gotanda, Omori, Kamata are my favorite. Prices are usually 220 above

  5. betterworldbooks is perfect for this. Free shipping worldwide. Takes a while to arrive, though.

  6. Get a Kindle and build out a long wish list of books you’re interested in buying. Check the list every couple of weeks to find the books that are on sale for 50-60% off.

  7. Jimbocho in Tokyo has tons of used book stores and many have English book selections.

The larger BookOffs will be your best bet though. Some locations have good selections & good prices.
