  1. I have a client in Canada that I receive recurring payments of ~5000$ a month from and it goes into my TD account back home. Whats the best way to transfer it over here each month?

  2. What do old people who get up at 3 do all morning? Also, why 3? Do you really need to be up before the sun even in summer? This question goes out to my crew who will never take the garbage out the night before but will have the drop-off filled by 4:10; I love you but seriously what are y’all doing.

  3. Anyone else here collect 御朱印?

I’ve collected 50 in less than two years and APPARENTLY that’s “too much” according to some people :(. Does anyone else share my passion lol

Like today I’m super hyped because it’s a new month which means new monthly goshuin. As you can see, I’m **obsessed**.

  4. Can I buy things/omiyage during my visit to Kansai and pay to have it sent to my home at the store? Has anyone ever encountered this kind of thing?

I want to semi-backpack for 8 days and I am worried about lugging around the goods.

  5. Just on the off chance that somebody here is selling a spare Summer Sonic Tokyo 08/19 ticket – I’d be happy to pick it up and pay about ¥20,000. Thanks.

  6. Any Australians have a recommendation of where to buy eucalyptus drops? I’ve found a couple on Rakuten.

  7. In the last few years I’ve seen a lot of successful businesses close up because their contract to use the land expired. Why is this even a thing? There’s no guarantee they can set up elsewhere, there’s no guarantee a new business will come in, there’s no guarantee a new business will be successful if it does come in. The economy now has a loss, and the land owner is bleeding property taxes without an income stream from a business on his/her land. It seems so dumb.

Edit: I’m referring to 事業用定期借地権 which has 11-49 year term limits. I don’t understand the purpose, as it puts an expiration date on the business operating there.

  8. Does anyone understand/have seen Bunraku (puppet theatre) in Osaka?

I’m interested in watching it on August 11th 12th or 13th but I don’t understand the structure. I.e. can I just watch one part? I think they’re all seperate stories through each part but its still a little confusing.

  9. My elderly neighbor (across the street) had me come to her house because she couldn’t find her phone. After I figured that out (I don’t speak Japanese well) I called it and she found it. Anyways. She gave me a ton of fruit for it, way more than I think the interaction warranted considering how expensive fruit is. Should I have refused it? Or should I do something in return?

  10. Can anyone recommend me a really good bb cream or foundation (drugstore please, I’m broke) that will last and give coverage in this awful weather? I’m looking like a full savage the moment I step outside because my face gets red and sweaty 🥵. Makeup keep spray doesn’t work to keep my current stuff in place.

  11. What meat to buy in Japan for homemade pizza topping? And where?

So far I tried a bunch of different ロースハム and some ham for salad. They‘re ok but wondering if I‘m missing something better, that also doesn‘t cost way too much.

  12. I’m leaving Japan for the foreseeable future today, will be at least a year or two before I return if ever. I paid off all my insurance stuff, filled out some forms and they know I’m leaving for good as of now.

My landlord claims I also need to go to the post office to change my address, but I haven’t heard of anyone else needing to do this?

  13. Is there an app to follow real time radar maps of the rain?

We have this in my home country and it’s super useful to know what’s going on and what’s coming.

  14. Auto-Mod deleted (?) my post so might as well retype here.

I won the lottery for a concert for next year. Actually both husband and I applied for it because we know of some friends who want to join in and now we both won.
Anyways, it’ll be our first concert (ever) in Japan and in our lives so we’re clueless on what happens next.

Few questions right away I can think of:
    1. The concert requires AnyPass, I have already registered for it but doesn’t show yet anything. From Googling, I read that the concert ticket only shows up a few days before the concert? i assume including the seat information?
    2. Is it generally possible to switch seats (at least with someone you know)? For example: since both husband and I won the tickets, each of us will be main account holder for the tickets. But since I want to watch with him, we’re thinking of switching the seats with our friend once we’re inside and had all the tickets checked.
    3. Is there really no preview or way of knowing the seats arrangements? Unfortunately, our friends are expecting us to give them the seat info already (they already paid us) but can’t show any to them. Since our friends are from a country where you can directly book a seat and not lottery-based. They’re expecting some sort of assurance that the tickets are legit.
    4. For those that have used AnyPass already, I (main account) and companions would have to register for it individual. And for my case, I’ll later have an option to share the tickets to companions, right?
    5. For general concert experience, any tips and advice I should consider? Or prep ahead of time? We’re thinking of bringing a car and parking ways ways away from Tokyo Dome and just walk to-from parking lot. How early should we be at the area?

  15. Tornado warnings all over Kanto right now. Level 2 is only 7-14%, granted, but any reports of funnel clouds or twisters on the ground anywhere?

  16. Typhoon is being forecasted in my general direction, but it looks like if it hits, it’ll be while I’m on vacation on the other side of the country. I’m already doing all the normal preparations for leaving my apartment while on vacation, but any additional typhoon-proofing steps I should be thinking about?

  17. I just want a no hassle phone contract that comes with a decent android phone. I’ll go anywhere but softbank any recommendations? I’m hoping for in the 8000-10000円 range

  18. Contemplating a trip to 北九州 during the summer to see an art exhibit. What other places would you guys recommend visiting while I’m there?

  19. I just got a 43 sq m 2DK in Kawasaki near Mizonokuchi for 7.8 man. Was this a really good deal? I’ve been trying to convince myself that there’s something wrong with the apartment, but other than being a little old and no elevator, seems like a gem in the rough? Have lived in 2 places in NYC that were way older and smaller (1880’s construction 22 sq m was the smallest) with much harsher stairs (one was on the 5th floor), and much much more expensive…

  20. My Internet is like 10Mbs,

Want to download an 80 Gig file on release date ASAP to my notebook, what`s the best place that I go for high-speed internet to download file?

  21. Friend wants me to bring him back any type of plants seeds from Japan. So decided to buy one pack of seeds from daiso and bring it back to my home country, when I go back for vacation.

Wanted to know, if I can bring it back in my checked language without issues?
