The current Covid-19 variant appears to have lower mortality than previous strains but is very highly contagious, still makes people sick and can come with lasting, serious cardiac, pulmonary and neurological side effects. Since the level of viral exposure load can effect the severity of infection, masks (preferably N95/K95/KF94), social distancing and vaccination are still critical. A very recent, large South Korean study showed a reduction in Covid-related heart attacks and stroke by up to 62% in patients that were vaccinated!
Hopefully this wave will peak fast. We all need to be vigilant.
