Is it possible to apply to another specialized training college upon graduation?

TL;DR – Can I apply to another 2 year student visa for another 専門学校 if I had already graduated from one? (1 year jpn language school + 2 years of specialized training college)

Hi, I have a question concerning the student visa, which I haven’t been able to find the answer to online, so I’m hoping someone here might have some more insight.

I have graduated from a specialized training college via MEXT but I would like to pursue a career in a different field as to obtain a relevant diploma to be able to get a work (humanities) visa in Japan.

My question is, is it possible to apply for another student visa for the same level of education (1 or 2 year 専門学校) again?

For some background, I have already ‘majored’ in this field back in my home country, but it was only a 4-year secondary school, and the immigration office might not accept that as an equivalent to a 専門学校. In the EU however it is enough to be qualified to work professionally in my field. I’m currently going through the process of applying for a work visa, so I will present the EU certificate with an explanation but there’s a high chance I’ll get rejected, so I’m thinking about a plan B, which is to go to school again and opt for another student visa.

My SO lives in Korea so if I’m asked to leave the country I can stay close/more easily come back on a tourist visa for the purpose of re-applying. My apartment lease and belongings will all be a mess but I’m really hoping there’s a way I can figure this out and not have to return back to my home country.

Apologies if it’s a dumb question.

Thank you to anyone that has read this and might have some helpful insight and advice.

  1. Well theoretically, you can.

But why going through another same 2 years for a specialized school, while you can enter a university that has similar major from your old specialized school?

If you have a 進路相談 teacher, ask them about 大学編入試験. You can skip into third year, and only have to study 2 years. Chances are better if you’re graduate from university.

    Good luck on your journey!

  2. First of all

Check your country and fields of 4 year-education under “Washington Accord ” or not since you said received it from EU, I strongly believe you can pass this assessment process(at least for the engineering genre)If you can, try a master’s course in any public university which is a better choice I believe
