As a bilingual, should I learn Japanese “in english” or “in my mothertongue”

So, I’m Italian and Italian is my first language, but I’ve been learning english by consuming many different media sources for quite a few years now, so I’d say I’m close to fluent in English. Of course not at native speaker level though.

So my question is, given that all resources I found to learn Japanese (Anki, Tae Kim’s guide, youtube videos) translate into English, should I just learn in English without translating everything in my mind in Italian or is this gonna come back bite me in the end? I just don’t wanna spend a long time learning and then realize I gotta start over because I should have learnt in my native language lol
