JP Post, Kuroneko, or Sagawa Transport for Leaving Japan

Hello, I want to preface this first with an apology if this thread is better posted somewhere else (and a request for redirection).

I am leaving Japan next spring to return to the United States, however after living here for five years I have accumulated enough stuff that I wish to send at least some of it back with me. I have sent things to the US before via JP Post, however a friend recently recommended I use Sagawa or Kuroneko as they can apparently transport things in bulk for an ultimately cheaper price.

If anyone has any experience sending packages internationally using these services please let me know. I have quite a bit of time before I go back, but I would like to make the transition as smooth as possible (and cheap as possible).

Thank you in advance.

  1. How much stuff?

If it’s just half a dozen boxes with no urgency then Japan post surface mail is cheap and simple. Freight services might be cheaper if you want to ship a lot of things or need them sooner.
