Hi everyone, I’m thinking about signing up to Mercard on Mercari. I’m wondering if its all positives or if there are downsides/hidden fees and how easy it is to cancel etc. If you have any thoughts or experiences to share I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
There’s no hidden membership fees. You only get charged the service and handling fee when you successfully sell something.
I have one. I have not been hit by any hidden fees so far, so I’m pretty sure there are none. I enjoy being able to pay off specific purchases whenever I want. It encourages me to use the card for the points while giving me the mental security of having no credit debt because I pay off the charge via my merpay balance the moment the charge has been processed. I take advantage of their 8% point back campaign on the 8th of every month. (But I buy and sell regularly on mercari anyway, so your mileage may vary)
The downside, for me, is that I find their emailed breakdowns a little hard to understand and the in app breakdowns of monthly payments (if you pay in installments) just doesn’t make sense to me. This is more likely a me problem than a merpay problem, though.
I have Mercard and had no issue whatsoever. I get a 300,000 allowance for 3.7% off purchases on Mercari itself and 1% elsewhere (although I use my LINE card in stores since it’s 2%). I just pay it off like any credit card once a month. No fees unless you split the payments over several months.
It’s a fantastic way to buy and sell. When selling they do take a fee, but it’s worth it in my opinion as the global shipping system and overall coverage you ad gets is fantastic.
I’ve sold stuff in literally 30 seconds
Thank you everyone for your replies. I appreciate it! I think I’ll get one.
