Are graduate studies in Japan (Finance) worth it?

Hi,

I’m currently doing my bachelor’s degree in business at a reputable university in Europe and really want to do a graduate program in finance abroad afterwards.

Right now I’m considering applying at other top universities in Europe but the country that really interests me most is Japan.

I don’t know if I want to work in Japan after the degree yet but I’d really love to spend two years there just for the experience.

However, from what I’ve read on here and on other subreddits it sounds like graduate programs in Japan (non-STEM fields) really don’t seem to be worth it.

Is getting a master’s in Japan really that much worse compared to other countries even if it’s say from todai or Osaka university?

Note that I barely speak any japanese so I would have to take the English courses.

Any advice and recommendations are welcome.

I’d love to live in Japan for a while and also meaningfully progress my career simultaneously.

  2. Cant speak for most of your questions but as far as taking an English spoken course in Japan, Ive heard its (for the most part) not worth it. Anyone Ive known thats taken English spoken courses found it really hard to understand what was being said and ended up transferring into Japanese courses and just brute force learning the language.

Youd want to be very sure that the teacher you get is a foreigner thats moved to Japan rather than a Japanese native that has learnt English.
