Hi All,
We’re a couple in our 30’s travelling to Japan first time in October. Finishing up our itinerary after getting some tips and feedback already. I have a few open points and would be very grateful if someone could have a look 🙂
**Open questions:**
1. Can I make my itinerary more efficient? I’ve tried group activities by area as much as possible but looking for feedback if things can be smoother. Also if days look too busy would appreciate feedback on that as well
2. We would like to rent a bike in Kyoto: are all areas suitable for that or are there any areas that we would need to use public transport?
3. Are there any other highly recommended places that I missed and can be easily added?
4. JR PASS: from my own research I could get a JR pass for 14 days which then would be activated on day 7. Is this correct? Is it possible to activate it in the early morning when we travel to Takayama or does this need to be done before?

if you’re open to it maybe you could do a cooking class on day 19, unless you’re planning on being there all day!
Hi! Hope you enjoy your first visit in Japan!
I used to be a Kyoto tourist guide, so including that perspective,
1→
┗Day2, seems quite free. I think you’ll have 3-4 hrs free time in the afternoon at least.
┗Day5, baseball regular season ends at top of Oct and playoffs start from mid of Oct so I’m not sure you can make it or not… I think you can ask [them](https://www.japansportsticket.com/) for info and help, quite helpful.
*Playoffs, there’s higher chance that playoffs might be held in Osaka area, so maybe you want to adjust your schedule.
┗Day 12&13, since it takes some time to travel between Kyoto and Nara, maybe you want to focus on Nara on Day13. On the other hand, day 12, I guess you can do the listed things within the morning so you can do Fushimi inari on that day after Kiyomizudera etc.
┗Day14, maybe I would recommend [this place](https://nijyojinya.net/english/) if you’re interested. Although you need a JP speaker with you, it is worthwhile visiting. If I’m around I might be able to visit there haha

2→ Generally Kyoto streets are relatively narrow, and especially the areas you are planning on your Day13 are not really suitable for cycle trip. Maybe you can 1) rent a bike at Arashiyama and enjoy cycling in that area, 2) rent a bike in the city center and enjoy around there, including the path along Kamo river
3→ What I recommended for your Day 14 will be it

Anyway, hope you guys like your stay in here!
