90 day itinerary rough draft. Backpacking from Tokyo to Fukuoka.

Hello everyone.

I am currently planning out a 90 day trip from Tokyo to Fukuoka. I have a lot of city hopping planned in order to see as much of the country as possible. I am finally at the stage where I can put my plans into a spreadsheet, break up what to do each day, and begin to see if my loose budget fits with the reality of how much this trip will cost.

Please let me know if you see any issues with the itinerary such as needing more time in certain areas, or possibly things I am missing out on.

I chose this route through a lot of trial and error, and still have a few gaps to fill. I am hoping to go the entire distance using public transportation, but I am also open to renting a car, which may make my time in Awaji longer.

For reference, this trip will take place next year, most likely Feb – April

Also, the trip ends at Fukuoka because I will be taking a ferry from Fukuoka to Busan.

This will be my third time in Japan, so if you notice some common things missing, that is most likely why. My last trips were spent in Tokyo, Izu (West), Osaka, Nagasaki and Fukuoka for the most part

Thanks!

  1. Kind of interesting to see how the first 60 had a really slow pace, see a lot of places, then relatively speaking, kind of rushed for the rest.

I took a full month to travel around Kyushu in April and just before that took just over a week to move from Osaka to Hiroshima. If I had not visited some places already, I would have taken like 2 weeks to move from Osaka to Fukuoka.

There is couple of things I see as “missing” like Nagoya Castle that I think it pretty good and some stuff that might be a bit more difficult than you might expect, like Takachiho gorge, it’s in Miyazaki prefecture, but you won’t do it as a day trip from Miyazaki city.
