Hello!
I am travelling to Japan in Jan 2024 with 4 others. We are wanting to visit Shirakawa-go to stay one night and Shogawa Gorge to take the cruise and stay one night at the Omaki Onsen. Our issue is transport between these two places. It is only a 1 hour drive, but it appears that we would have to take two buses and it would take double or triple the time.
We would rent a car but don’t think that is smart if there is heavy snow and none of us know Japanese.
Does anyone know any ways around this? Can we hire a private bus transfer for a reasonable price?
Any tips appreciated!

The thing is that private cars access to Shirakawa-go is limited in winter, especially during the light-ups, that will include any private charters.
If there is heavy snow, or in the aftermath of heavy snows, the cruise will not be running.
