TeamLabs Planets exhibition to be extended until 2027, new Artwork of Light unveiled

I know lots of us plan a visit to TeamLabs in Tokyo in our itineraries. This exhibition had been planned to close at the end of 2023, but has now been extended until end of 2027. DMM promise to ‘devote ourselves to becoming a museum that is loved by all’ – will this mean some renovations to extend the life of Planets, as many had complained it was wearing out?

In addition, a new exhibition has been added to Planets – Ephemeral Solidified Light – which is described as “Innumerable masses of light float in the air, each one composed of multiple colors. The boundaries of each color are clearly separated as though they are solid.”

Are any of you planning to visit before it closes in 2027?

  1. While I wouldn’t go to a museum like it again unless it was completely new and interesting, it is definitely unique and worth checking out if you have never been to one like it

  2. Interesting artwork indeed but when they said it’s an experience that involves all your senses I wasn’t expecting the stench in the changing room.

  3. My problem is… The new one should be open by the time I’m hitting Tokyo next year. Do I really want to do both on the same trip? Edging towards no at the moment.

  4. Wait so from what point onwards is the new Ephemeral Solidified Light exhibition available there?

  5. Def needed renovations. It smelled like 🦶when we were there and thought it was overrated.
