Hey all,
I’ve done some research (Google and this subreddit) in an effort to find a whisky distillery to visit during my trip to Japan in October. Initially I fully intended to visit Yamazaki/Suntory by Kyoto but it’s now closed until November 1. We then pivoted to plan to tour Kirin Fuji Gotamba not far from Hakone, and that is still a possibility, but the day we’re most available in Hakone, they’re not offering tours.
Are there any other distilleries that aren’t too far from Tokyo/Hakone/Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima that are worth a visit? Thanks in advance for the help.

Distilleries often close in summer. It’s a physical limitation of distilling.
Suntory Hakushu reopens in October. But literally drop everything right now and go to the website. The lottery entry for October tours end at 4:29pm JST today or less than 8 hours from this post.
Not a distillery, but I’d recommend Aloha Whiskey in Tokyo. Bartender has an insane collection and is knowledgeable at recommending whiskey based on what you like
Not a distillery, but I enjoyed the tour of the Kirin beer factory in Yokohama when I was there in June. You get to sample several beers at the end.
House of Ki no bi Gin in Kyoto. Highly recommend.
