When recipes and measurement instructions mention “cups of rice” should I generally assume they’re referring to dry rice?


I’m asking because of this article in particular

  1. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but yes. As you wash/rinse the rice, it will soak up some water. Obviously cooking the rice adds water. But when you’re adding seasoning, that will also be absorbed by the rice. So it may seem weird to have like 3/4 cup of water to 1 cup of rice, but if it’s done correctly that’s how it’s supposed to be
