Six-Day Tokyo Itinerary Check and Some Questions

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my itinerary for my upcoming trip to Tokyo from October 22nd-28th! I also have some questions that I would love to get help with–I’ve tried google and searching this sub and can’t quite find what I’m looking for. It will be me and two friends and we’ll be coming from Korea, so jet lag won’t be an issue. We’re prepared for early mornings at the touristy spots, ie markets and parks.

**MAIN QUESTIONS**

* Omoide Yokocho: my friend heard it’s a good idea to get reservations to a place here. Is this a thing? I feel like no but thought I would ask anyway.
* Anime: I would like to check out some anime things. I’m interested mostly in anything Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, or Spy x Family. Are there any exhibitions or pop up cafes happening at this time (10/23-27)? Any cool sights I should know about? I’ve researched what I can but I feel like I’m searching the wrong thing because I’m not really finding anything pertinent. I have the address of the KFC during the infamous >!Gojo/Geto breakup!<, and would love to check out any other spots like that!
* Maid Cafes: we’re pretty on the fence about going to one, but could sway either way. Worth it in your opinion?
* Tenzan Onsen: I found this in my research to be foreigner- and tattoo-friendly, however most of the reviews seem to be from 2021 and earlier. [This](https://reallyruraljapan.com/tattoo-friendly) article suggests they’ve gone back on their tattoo rules, but I can’t tell when it was posted. Any help with this (or any other tattoo-friendly onsen recommendations) would be great!

**SUNDAY 10/22**

* Land at Narita \~7:30pm, take Narita Express to Shinjuku Stn to check in to Airbnb
* Explore Omoide Yokocho
* Question here: my friend heard it’s a good idea to get reservations to a place here. Is this a thing? I feel like no but thought I would ask anyway.
* Gaze lovingly at the Godzilla Head

**MONDAY 10/23**

* Tsukiji Market
* Ginza for some shopping
* Tokyo Imperial Palace
* Daiba: Rainbow Bridge

**TUESDAY 10/24**

* Yoyogi Park
* Takeshita St
* Harajuku
* Omotesando
* Shibuya

**WEDNESDAY 10/25**

* Senso-ji temple early
* Nakamise St

* Kappabashi fake food class
* Akibahara

**THURSDAY 10/26**

* Onsen day

**FRIDAY 10/27**

* Shinjuku
* Shimokitazawa

* We’d like to explore anywhere that’s lively for Halloween–any suggestions?

**SATURDAY 10/28**

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

  1. Check out this website for anime pop ups and cafes: https://collabo-cafe.com/

    Also I notice you’re missing Ikebukuro on your itinerary, there’s a ton of anime shops there, and it’s where a lot of the pop up cafes tend to be. (I prefer it over Akihabara)

    There’s a Halloween cosplay festival in Ikebukuro on the weekend, but depending on what time you’re flying out on Saturday, you’ll probably miss it. https://ikebukurocosplay.jp/

  2. Not sure if day 1 is feasible at all. It will take you time to collect luggage and clear customs / immigration. If I recall correctly, it is around 60 mins from Narita to Shinjuku.

    By the time you get to Shinjuku, you are close to 10 pm. Depending on jet lag, I am not sure if you will have energy to explore and check out things.

  3. Looks like you’re hitting the high points. You might have one too many things per day but you’ll figure it out.

    I enjoyed maid dreaming cafe In Akihabara. It was a nice break to sit down. Food was good. Fun atmosphere. The maid cafe inside don quioxte there looks popular.

    I think there are three godzillas to see. I saw the head in shinjuku. There is a full statue someplace – I’ll have to look it up.

  4. I went to Tenzen Onsen in April with tattoos, and didn’t have a problem. I was admittedly alone, but still chatted with some of the other guests. If you think of it like a spa, quiet relaxing experience, you should be fine.
