I have been following the requirements and stuff carefully for the past few weeks, and it looks like the COVID requirements are gone from the State Department website even though they were there last week.

If I’m reading the MOFA website correctly, travelers returning from “Blue” countries also don’t have to test upon arrival or even pre-flight either.

If this is true I’m surprised there hasn’t been more chatter about this. This can’t be true, can it?
I arrived on a single-entry visa, but now have a residence card. I can just leave for a “Blue” country (depending on the requirements of the country in question), and return to Japan without a PCR?
Sounds too good to be true.

Pre-departure test to enter Japan is still required regardless of country status (blue, yellow red) as per MHLW.
I came back in last Friday from a blue country and had to give a PCR. The whole process coming back in was way smoother than I thought.
The mofa website says you absolutely need a negative PCR test. Maybe you misunderstood something.
Test not required to leave Japan more.
No test required to enter must countries, your airline will indicate if required.
Flying to Japan still requires a test within 72 hours of departure, and it’s highly advised to install the mysos app to bypass the other lines that go through the verification process.
