  1. I see 言って~ pronounced as いうて a lot, is there a specific reason, or is it just stylistic/helps the listener understand specifically what verb is being used?

  2. can someone please explain the use of で in this sentence?

    亡くなった入居者が滞納していた固定資産税までも、ほかの住人たち**で**負担することになりました。

is it like the place the burden is going? to the people?

  3. Hi everyone! I am beginner in studying japanese and I am currently using duolingo as a learning tool. I have studied for about one month. My question is, is it worth it to use duolingo or not?

  4. Hi! I wanted to ask if anyone has any more recent experiences with language schools in Tokyo? I want to go to a 6 months~1 year course on a student visa. I recently graduated uni with degree in japanese, and i’m not currently looking to immediatelly pursue another education/job in Japan after i finish the course, so I’m not looking for any specific entrance exam/job hunting preparation courses etc., and I’m already at around N3 level, so I also don’t need anything super intensive. (But I’ll take any kind of course, I honestly just want to spend time in Japan as a student since I wasn’t able to during my time in college because of covid.)
I’m looking into Akamonkai, Yoshida, Toyo, TCJ, SNG and Kyoshin specifically, but if anyone has had a great experience in any other institution, i’d love to hear it as well! 🙂

  5. Wow, this sub is kind of intimidating as a bare-bones beginner (I can basically only ask you for water lol)

I’ve heard people all over the internetz say that duolingo freakin sucks. Are there any apps or sites (free-to-use preferably, I am broke AF) that do it better? If so, what are they?

I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times, sorry

  6. is 索 ever used on its own or just in compounds? is there a way to tell with an unfamiliar kanji if you haven’t seen it in context?

  7. 母に連れられて学校へゆき、渡り廊下を通って教室へ歩いてゆく。母にはスリッパが出されるが、子どもは靴下のまま廊下を歩く。これがいやだった。

I know context makes it pretty obvious, but is 母にスリッパが出される technically ambiguous in meaning between “Mom was offered slippers” and “the slippers were put out by Mom”?
