Hi! I recently got a job under a Hakken contract in Tokyo and learned that I will only be paid at the end of my working month i.e. start working in September and get paid at the end of October.
It’s bothersome for me but I can live with it. However I wonder if this is common in Tokyo or Japan?

It is common for some places unfortunately. Though I the end you should still get the paid the exact hours you work so that your last paycheck comes a month after you quit.
Yeah this is not rare. The latest payment date I ever had was on the 20th of the next month. This was also a hakken agency.
