What kind of part-time work is possible with the humanities visa?

Excuse me for being underinformed, but the information I have found so far seems contradictory, so I thought I’d try asking here.

I have the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International services visa. I usually work as a teacher, sometimes translator/interpreter. Currently I’m in need of some extra income and was wondering what options are available to me besides the above. Japanese friend recommended one-day baito (event staff and the likes) for fast extra income, but I suppose I can’t do that with my visa?
I would appreciate any advice!

  1. If it uses English or has the potential to use English at all, then it can fall under “international services”. If it’s using a computer at all then it can fall under “engineering”. “Humanities” can encompass a number of areas like office work, working at a brand store as customer service, things like that, but it doesn’t really include shop clerk work like just working the register at a shop or convenience store or things like that. Event staff probably would qualify either under international services or humanities.

  2. There are legal definitions, but basically work that requires knowledge of a foreign language: language teaching, translating, or business with overseas companies or customers.

I’ve used it in English teaching, marketing, ad copywriting, and project management.

  3. Avoid all the low-skilled labour jobs (like waitering at an restaurant, tester for a software company…) and you’ll be fine.
