Shipping stuff back to australia

Hey guys!

Been in japan 1 out of 6 months now and already sent a bunch of souvenirs and stuff back home! However I got the mt fuji hiking stick when i climbed fuji (the tall stick) and was wondering if anyone knows anyway that I could send that stick home to australia

Any help is seriously appreciated
Thanks 🙂

  1. Is it wood? I would be wondering if it’s better to bring it as carry-on on your flight home and declare it in person than have customs see it’s wood in a package then just send it to the incinerator.

Is the issue that it’s an awkward size? Because I just ship everything by sea mail (funabin) and it turns up eventually.

  2. The other option which is a bit more extreme is to go one of those DIY stores where they have wood cutting services and have them neatly cut it into several shorter pieces (without cutting through the middle of any of your stamps of course). That way it will be more compact, yet you will still essentially have the whole stick and the stamps on it (despite it being in multiple pieces).
