Long distance delivery from Ikea?

The bed I want from Ikea is not available in any Tokyo store (collect or delivery). The nearest place with it in stock is Nagoya.

Kuroneko Yamato has a [Transportation of large furniture and major appliance] (https://www.008008.jp/en/delivery/kazai/) service that would deliver it, but I’m unclear on how to get from the Ikea store.

Does anyone have a solution aside from me actually going to Nagoya to carry the boxes from the warehouse to the loading bay to meet the Kuroneko truck?

A Man-With-A-Van solution using Click-and-Collect who would pickup in Nagoya and delivery to Tokyo would be ideal.

  1. Since it would be in boxes I would assume if you could get someone to buy it in Nagoya and ship it to you, that would work.

  2. Have you tried making a special order at one of the Tokyo stores? Sometimes when we’ve gone to one chain’s outlet for something not stocked, they’ve done a kind of internal order and had the thing in question sent from the shop that stocks it to ‘our’ shop.

  3. Is it on Amazon? Some IKEA stuff is on Amazon but it’s marked up more expensive (although I think the shipping is free)

  4. Does the Ikea JP website not allow you to order and pay for it to be shipped to your home address?

If there is an Ikea store near you, perhaps you could also check if it’s possible for them to order one for you to collect there.

I had a set of bed slates delivered to my nearby store (who did not have it in stock) via their website, but it was available in other stores in Tokyo so that might be a little different from your situation.
