7Eleven and Matsuya Baito Interview On The Sunday— what do they usually ask?

Info:
1 year Student Zairyuu
JLPT N1

Tried an interview at Cafe グスト but got rejected.

Making a 履歴書 as well just for good measure.

I get very nervous during baito interviews because I am not sure of the right keigo to use and the best way to answer them despite understanding the questions asked.

Watched and took notes ofアルバイト面接 videos on YouTube but I still struggle with real-life usage.

Any help and pointers from people with experience in baitospeak would be amazing. Thank you ❤️

  1. Interview from 7/11 or any kind of コンビニ isnt that complicated since usually at same time there will be more than 2 staffs which can cover each other ( except night shift)松屋 is different more like ガスト because they assume you could handle all your duty during working time

  2. コンビニ interviews are generally pretty easy and keigo isn’t super important. As long as you aren’t speaking casually it isn’t a big deal. Otherwise it’s just the basic when/how many shifts you can do, do you live nearby, reason for working, nightshift availability etc.

Cafe’s I would imagine are a bit harder because more customer interaction is required so your keigo/Japanese ability would weigh more heavily here.

  3. You should have no reason to worry.

When I was an exchange student some of my cohort worked at convenience stores and some of them barely spoke Japanese at all.

  4. Wow gusto is a shit hole? My friend with N3 also got rejected. 1071 yen… But then she got hired to 3 different normal restaurants for 1300. Maybe they just hate foreigners.

  5. I’ve had some retail baito interviews (no luck so far) and they’ve been pretty straightforward just asking what shifts I can do and why I want to work there. Some have written tests to check you can read and write kanji and do maths (I don’t think I did well on those lol)
