I recently bought a furin wind chime because I find the chimes pleasant. I put it up near my front door and I live up on a hill in a pretty densely populated area in Kanagawa.
Just wondering if I should be worried about the sound of it bothering my neighbors?
It’s a little louder than I realized when I bought it and sounds a little like a bicycle bell.
I just don’t want to piss off any of my neighbors with it.
Planning on taking it down once summer is over, obviously.
EDIT: Thanks all, I’ve since relocated my wind chime indoors next to my bedroom window so it only makes noise when I open my window and I want to enjoy it.

It’s kind of asking whether putting large pumpkinheads in gardens bothers people in the US when Halloween comes.
Take it down when you’re not outside enjoying it?
It won’t make you any friends.
My neighbor had one and i could hear the tinkling sound in my living room. Was really annoying like so many sounds that are out if the listener’s control. Take it down or only use it occasionally when you are outside.
I hate all wind chimes. They just make noise. Japanese people seem to like them for some reason.
Put it up inside your home next to a window where it can catch the breeze.
Got one as a present and put it up on my apartment balcony. After a couple of hours I took it down forever. I was sure people would be annoyed by it, I certainly was
I love windchimes but I agree with other posters: put it up only when you’re at home chilling. If I had my own up (or if my neighbors had one up) all the time it would be really annoying especially at night.
I keep mine indoors and just enjoy it when I open the door for a breeze.
Light wind blows – ding ding ding ding!
Every few minutes
Let’s just say I put it somewhere where it doesn’t catch any breeze lol.
Yes, because my neighbor leaves it up year-round.
