Itinerary for 28 days in Japan on Jan – Feb 2024

Hey all, I got a 28 day solo trip coming up and I wanted to get opinions on my itinerary. I will be going January 8 to February 4. I have been to Japan a lot of times and I would say I am experienced in traveling, although this would be my first solo trip, as I usually went with my family. I decided to focus on places that my family would not go to or did not spend much time in. Tokyo (6 days) (No set itinerary)

I am open to suggestions, especially in the Tohoku region. I would say that I am more interested in temples, shrines, and nature in general, although I don’t prefer hikes or trails. I also like locations with good views, whether they be urban or rural views. I am currently unsure of the amount of time I allocated in each city, but I assumed that since I was a solo traveler and I was familiar enough with traveling in Japan, I could make do with shorter stays to accommodate more cities. Hoping for some lesser traveled or lesser known stuff to go to that would be better while being a solo traveler. Thank you everyone!

  1. There’s an underrated temple with a good panoramic view of the whole area of kyoto atop a mountain with a limited bus schedule (I hiked it last January). It’s called shogunzuka Seiryuden.
