Travel insurance specifically for delaying a return flight to Japan due to corona

I’ve found plenty of companies that say you’re covered if you have to cancel before you depart, or if you have to return early due to various conditions, but nothing that specifically mentions pushing your return flight to a later date. Any section companies have that talk about corona mention hospital costs or paying for a hotel if you need to quarantine, but nothing about flight costs.

The most likely scenario I can envision is a positive PCR test where (hopefully, because I’m up to date on vax) I don’t need hospital care, but will be unable to board the return flight to Japan for some days until I can test negative again. Has anyone found a company that talks about compensation for changing a flight? None of the earlier threads I could find here talk about this situation.

I’m a Japan resident/US citizen traveling to the US if that matters for specific companies.

  1. Just an anecdote but, an acquaintance caught corona in the us and tested positive on their PCR. They just called the airline (American?) and were able to get it delayed until they tested negative

I posted this in another thread, but to expand, the relevant part on the COVID page is

    > 旅行先で治療を終えた後、直接帰国するための交通費や宿泊費

  3. Is there any list of airlines prices for moving the flight in case of corona? Say Lufthansa, air Thai, Korean air , southern china etc?
