Half day or full day of Okunikko 1 week after peak fall foliage?

Hi all,

Will be arriving in Tokyo Saturday Nov 11th and planning to head to Nikko on Monday Nov 13 to avoid the weekend crowds.

Based off of the [fall foliage forecast](https://s.n-kishou.co.jp/w/sp/koyo/koyo_yosou_spot.html?&ba=09), it’s expected that Okunikko will have peak foliage anywhere from mid Oct to first week of November.

Senjougahara: 10/16-11/2

Lake Chuzenji: 10/24-11/5

Kegon Falls: 10/26-11/8

I’m debating whether it’s worth staying in Okunikko for a full day or half day pending fall foliage. It’s been hard to find photos when Nikko isn’t in peak fall, completely green, or under snow.

1. Will the fall foliage be completely gone 7-10 days after peak foliage?

2. If the fall leaves are gone quickly, is Senjougahara still worth the trek?

If there will still be some colored leaves (even if browning) and trees aren’t dead, I’d plan a full day in Okunikko including hiking from Yudaki Waterfall to Ryuzu Waterfall.

If the leaves are gone by then, I’d plan early morning for Akechidaira Ropeway / Observation Deck, Kegon Waterfall, and maybe a taxi to Chuzenjiko Observation Deck and then head back for Toshogu.
