Corpse Flowers! Well Red Spider Lily sounds nicer…
When I visited this place I didn’t realise how culturally significant these flowers are. Excerpt from Wikipedia: They are known as Higanbana (ヒガンバナ) in Japanese which means ‘Flower of Higan’, a Buddhist holiday around the autumnal equinox.
Anyway, aren’t they pretty! They were all over the place in autumn but we caught the end of it at this particular place so they were just turning. I did see some cool Joro spiders though and a rare white spider lily.
