  1. It is jan-sep number, a 3/4 year. It is not some large crack down happened in a day.

By this metric, nevada red light district arrests 2000-3000 prostitutes every year.

  2. So they arrest and punish these poor women of whom 40 percent were working to pay off debts.

Many of them work regular jobs and only seek customers in the evenings. Getting arrested means they would most likely lose their regular job. And an arrest record means their future is going to be tough.

How about they decriminalize what these womenn are doing and instead go after the pimps, organized crime gangs who recriut them?

Or perhaps provide them with support so they have more options to get out of debt or can do their work in a safer manner?

  3. Actually this seems like a very small number given the amount of pink places and how much prostitution you can do *legally*.

I’m guessing they must to have agreed to something on the streetside (which is dumb on their part.) Possibly someone forgot to pay someone …

  4. Glad something is being done but this doesn’t seem like it’ll even make a dent in what’s happening.

  5. Yes let’s punish the women! They’re the ones to blame. Not the yaks that run the area for sure.
