hello!
i just moved to higashimurayama. i have a prescription that i take via self-injection once a week. according to the higashimurayama garbage guide, used needles cannot be collected, and they say to return it to a specialist or the pharmacy where it was purchased. i purchased my needles in america and brought them with me. does anyone know whether most pharmacies or hospitals can take home medical waste for disposal? where is the best place to go? i’d like to avoid making phone calls to search myself if i can because my japanese isn’t great.
thanks!

I think you should take them with you to the place that you intend to get your next prescription from. Clinic or the nearby pharmacy should be willing to dispose for you, especially if you are a customer.
See page 23 of this [PDF from Kutchan city](https://www.town.kutchan.hokkaido.jp/file/contents/20/2098/E.pdf) for detailed instructions Your town might have similar guide. Unfortunately, most places want you to take medical syringes needles back to medical hospital or clinic for disposal.
I get sharps containers (針捨てボックス) from my hospital; when one fills up I bring it back to my next appointment and get a replacement.
