Question regarding AU phone change

Howdy! This post is more out of curiosity than seeking an actual answer.

I recently received a Google Pixel fold as a birthday present, and I’d like to use it as my daily driver.

But I currently use an iPhone 14 Pro via AU/UQ. But the thing is, I’m still paying it off monthly through the company. (Ten payments left I think?)

Is it possible to switch my SIM over to the new device? Would they let me? And if so, what would happen to the iPhone?

Just curious if anyone else has done this, and what their experience was. Of course, I’m going to an AU shop this weekend to directly inquire about it as well.

Thanks!

  1. What do you mean “is it possible to switch”?

Is it a physical SIM? Yes, just move it over. You’ll need to add APN settings maybe: https://www.au.com/support/service/mobile/procedure/sim/auic/

If it’s eSIM you can do the reissue procedure to get one into your pixel: https://www.au.com/support/faq/detail/21/a00000000821/
You can delete the one from iphone.

Are you asking if au would somehow knew you removed SIM from a still-being-paid-for phone and care about it? They would prolly know by new IMEI being on network with same number but care? none at all.
