What does “おそらく” imply?

A lot of places I read about it and they basically said that it is used to describe an event with high likelihood or probability of happening.

I asked someone who understands japanese and they said: おそらく=悪い予感 (bad premonition).

The sentence I initially found the word was implying something positive though, so I got confused.

  1. You’re right, and おそらく isn’t neccesarily negative. For example I can say おそらく良いことが起きるだろう (Something good may happen) and おそらく大丈夫 (probably alright)
