“Astro” shops have Mitutoyo calipers and dial indicators for great prices, but not many choices. And sometimes 123 blocks.
Does it have to be Mitutoyo? I don’t see the point on paying the premium for a Mitutoyo unless you use it daily for professional work. I got a Shinwa micrometer for 2000 yen at a “Kohnan” home center. It’s as precise as the Mitutoyo I use at work. I assume it’s less resistant to wear and won’t stay calibrated for as long, which doesn’t matter since I use it only sporadically for hobby purposes.
Sorry to hijack – anyone know about where to get sheet-metal? I can travel to Hiroshima to pick it up if need be.
Kikai Machi in Sakai is a great neighborhood for used equipment if you’re looking for some.
Check out “Konan pro”, should have what you’re looking for. I always buy on Monotaro or Amazon since usually it’s cheaper.

Haven’t checked exactly for that stuff but monotaro on the net is decent for proper equipment
Edit cause I’m curious, what ya making?
My company buys most of their measuring equipments from [MISUMI](https://jp.misumi-ec.com/vona2/maker/mitutoyo/) and [MonotaRO](https://www.monotaro.com/s/?c=&q=%E3%83%9F%E3%83%84%E3%83%88%E3%83%A8).
