Lost pasmo, needs to be cancelled

So my child lost his Pasmo. I am not a great at Japanese. My husband is, however he’s decided that since our child lost it he’s not getting another one because he’ll only lose it again and this is his punishment. It doesn’t punish him it punishes me, because it makes it more difficult when I have to run around with him for appointments and so on.

So I decided I wanted to get him one, and went to purchase one. But the station staff said I can not purchase one because he already had one. Well it’s lost it’s been over a year now. They acknowledge it’s lost, and tell me I have to cancel it. But do not give me any information unfortunately on how to cancel it so I can purchase a new one.

I know if I ask my husband it will just end up in a fight because he’s been upset with our child lately, but I want things easier on me, so I ask you all how do I cancel a childs Pasmo? I did try googling and got nowhere.

  1. Google didn’t help? I did a quick search with “how to cancel lost pasmo” and this comes up in the official website of Tokyo Metro

A personalized PASMO and PASMO commuter pass may be reissued. Please bring your official certificate (Japanese driver’s license, passport, insurance card, student ID card, etc.) and inform a station staff member.

  2. My child just lost his Suica, we went to the station information booth reported it lost, they called other stations, we checked a few days later, couldn’t be found so they issued a new one. We put an AirTag into his pass wallet, and it’s doing double duty tracking where he is

  3. Isnt it always attached on their bag?

How does one lose their pasmo?

anyway tell your husband that the punishment should last a lifetime and also share your difficulties.

and what is the fixation about pasmo? is it possible to use other ic? but yeah communicate with your husband first.

  4. I think someone pointed you to the cancellation procedure. When I got my wallet picked in Shinjuku, I simply went to Shimbashi station to cancel and get a new pasmo. 1 form and showing the necessary creds.

For immediate relief, you can simply go to the ticket machine and get a new pasmo card. It’s like 500 yen. When I had visitors from overseas, I went and bought 5 of them so they could get around Tokyo with ease. If memory serves correct, I needed cash to buy the actual cards then could charge on my credit card.

For future help, you can store the pasmo on your kid’s phone then monitor and re-charge the pasmo with ease. Suica also works too.

  5. The comments here are awful and don’t help.

It needs to be cancelled if it’s a monthly commuter pass (unlimited rides for one section of a train line)
However if it’s just a pasmo that you recharge and pay as you go, then you can just buy a new one for ¥500 plus a minimum ¥1500 charge you can use for train fares (for children you need to go to the ticket office with the child’s ID to verify their age. Fill in a form and they will give you a new pasmo)

Just don’t mention that you lost the previous one and it should be fine.
