2 Day Trips in Kansai: Koyasan & Arima Onsen

Hey all,

I’m heading to the Kansai region (staying in Osaka) for about 9 days this end Oct/early Nov. While this will be my 19th trip to Japan, this will actually be my first-time solo traveling there!

I’m already quite familiar with the Kansai region’s usual cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, Nara. I’ll be staying by Kitahama station for access from the airport and connectivity via the metro and Keihan line.

I believe the only day trip options I haven’t done in Kansai are Koyasan and Arima Onsen–just wanted to ask a few questions regarding possible plans:

1. Koyasan–will use the Kansai Thru Pass all the way. My question is, what’s the best path to explore Koyasan? Daimon Gate to Okunoin with lunch in between, or vice versa? I’m not planning to stay overnight though I am willing to travel there as early as possible.

2. Arima Onsen–planning to use this Hankyu/Hanshin [pass](https://www.klook.com/en-PH/activity/22435-arima-onsen-ticket-hankyu-hanshin-pass-osaka/?spm=SearchResult.SearchResult_LIST&clickId=d875808c92)\+ admission into Taikou-no-yu bathouse. I just wanted to ask if it would be better to take the Hankyu or the Hanshin option? Would it best to explore then onsen or vice versa? Since Kobe is nearby I’ll probably spend the evening there before heading back to Osaka.

Would appreciate any comments! Since this would be my first solo travel to Japan, I was wondering if there’s anything special in particular I can do as one.
