  1. Never seen such pink marbled tuna. Definitely tempting though.

    Edit: typo.
How the fuck did my phone get from tempting to reporting?

  2. Ridiculous. I have the great misfortune of being a sushi addict who lives in East Africa, where there is a real dearth of good sushi. I live vicariously through these posts.

  3. Part of what I love about this is that the ginger is in a sealed packet. Too much grocery store sushi in the US ends up tasting like pickled ginger

  4. And to think that they have it at most supermarkets for cheap compared to what we have to get, man when I get enough money I’ll live in Japan for a few weeks just dining on sushi even from seven eleven

  5. omgggggg the place i work at sells ONE otoro piece for $13 … what a steal when converted to USD!!!! i want to go baaaaackk

  6. That’s a phenomenal deal. Most places I went to in Tokyo were charging around 800JPY per piece of otoro nigiri (and 450pp for akami).

  7. Supermarket sushi is easily the best value for sushi in Japan. It’s cheaper than restaurants and in some cases even better. I had a really nice nigiri set for 700¥. There was only lean tuna in that one which is why it was so much cheaper.

  8. Everytime im walking around japan’s supermarket i can only thing ” god i wish mine had this”

  9. One look at this and you’ll realise how many jokers there are posting about American sushi in this subreddit.

  10. Damn, I figured their grocery stores wwre better sushi than ours, but *fatty tuna* with that degree of marbling? And it’s *only* $15? Even our own Japanese markets, stellar as their own bento sections are, can’t come close to what Japan itself offers.

  11. I once stayed next to a supermarket during my stay in Tokyo. I went crazy on these deals I ate otoro for like breakfast/lunch/dinner. I overdid it and now can only have otoro once in a while. I think it is important to point out that the rice quality will be hard to match what you get in a sushi restaurant. Rice is the true focus in high quality sushi so it makes a difference in my opinion. These were still a steal though I used to eat them as sashimi pieces!!!
