Female surgeon Japan

Are there any?! I need a lacroscopic appendectomy. I am in Kyoto. I cant find one. They are not even legally required to be present during the surgery. It is a surgery near the private area so I would be more comfortable with a woman. Ive just heard so many bad things about malpractice here and the male doctors.. Anyone know one?

  1. “So many bad things about malpractice”, if this were true, life expectancy would drop and people wouldn’t go to the doctor like it was the same as dropping by a Starbucks.

Female surgeons exist, I work with one, but you’re going to need to just ask the hospitals.

  2. The only female surgeon I knew here (in GI) moved to the states recently for massively more money than she was making here 😂

But good luck, hope you do find one! 🍀 cos it is generally felt that female doctors here are above average cos the bar was (still is? probably 😆) set way higher for them to get into med school than for men cos of long-standing discrimination in the admissions processes. It was a big “scandal” in the news a few years back, but it’s been pretty much the worst kept “secret” in medicine here for aeons that most schools had massively male-biased admissions, so none but the absolute best female candidates could get in.

    Odaijini!

  3. As someone who had appendicitis you should either see if you are a candidate for antibiotics or accept that the chances of you getting molested are really low.

Other than putting it off an maybe it explodes and kills you.

You might be ok for the antibiotics considering they let you leave the hospital. Just keep in mind it has a possibility of coming back.

How would a surgeon doing the surgery not be legally required to be there by the way I am confused about that part.

  4. I hope you can find a doctor you’re comfortable with. I had a similar surgery earlier this year to treat my endo. My doctor was male but he was really good, so if you do get stuck with a male doctor I hope you at least get one as kind as mine was.

  5. In any developed nation you don’t have a say in what sex your surgeon will be. I’m male and had a very sensitive surgery done by two very capable female surgeons. Suck it up

  6. Japan actually has superb medical system and doctors. You should learn to distinguish anecdotal stories you read on Reddit to overall reality before making a generalization. Yes there are good doctors and bad doctors so hope you can find a doctor you are comfortable with. Shop around, don’t need to bad about getting second opinion from different doctors.

  7. Of all the countries I’ve lived in, no country subreddit is as judgmental and underhandedly sexist as this one

  8. Kyoto Prefecture University Hospital? Had a c-section there and the whole surgical team was female including the anaesthetist.
