Is anyone else having issues with accessing the English chat support? It’s during business hours/not a holiday that I’m aware of but it’s not available. My card has demagnetized again despite not storing it anywhere it should be having that happen. I’ve seen a couple other posts on here that have shared that issue.

I’ve found that some hours of the day, the english support isn’t available. Possibly low or busy staff.
But I actually just signed up with Sony bank and the card they sent me didn’t even work. So off to a great start. They sent a new one for free, so it’s not so bad I guess.
The few times I have used online support I had no problems. My card is also 3 years old and I’ve always had it in my wallet. Maybe the card problems are more recent.
I’ve also had my Sony bank card demagnetized once. Never had a problem with any other card.
I just contacted support and they sent a new one. I try to keep it in part of my wallet where it rubs less and haven’t had any problems yet.
I had this problem as well. Card demagnetised so many times I just gave up and went with another bank 🤷♂️
I don’t know if it was something in my wallet or what, but I haven’t had this problem with any other bank cards/credit cards so it must be something with the Sony Bank cards.
It was so annoying because I would only be able to use the card 2-3 times, then it would demagnetise and I would have to wait a week for a new one with no other way to withdraw my money..
Weird I’ve never had an issue. I’ve always had English chat support.
Only issue I’ve had is that I didn’t realize at first that the card had to be inserted “backwards” into ATMs, and that ATMs used the magstripe not the IC chip in the card.
If you have an iPhone it’s possible that MagSafe could demagnetize cards.
I’m on my 4th card since 2019 (when Sony Bank opened its EN service), with my last one breaking when I came back from overseas last year. It’s the only card that I’ve ever had to replace in my life, let alone twice. I keep it in the same place with other cards and yet it is the only one that breaks. I don’t know why this continues to happen.
Sony Bank says it’s due to IC cards like Suica, but my other cards have no issues and I’ve had transit cards since I was a teen in Australia with bank cards with the same features as the Sony Bank card.
In saying that, I’ve never had issues with support, in fact they are some of the best in Japan in my opinion. The exchange rate is the best I’ve ever seen and overseas transfers are sometimes quicker than domestic ones. This is what keeps me staying with them.
