Importing electrical appliances

I’m thinking of importing some ceiling speakers from the US, and am wondering if they’ll work okay in Japan. The speakers will be 110V 60Hz, and my area of Japan is 100V 50Hz.
I heard that it’s only really things with motors etc that suffer with the lower voltage and frequency, but I’m wanting to check with anyone who knows about these things before wasting money.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Yes, but be cautious of malfunctioning and you’ll lose a bit of quality if they were built for higher electricity.
Plus being abroad the warrant might be invalid.
My pc and Sonos work great here, but I did need a wall adapter for the pc.

  2. I bought a sub woofer from the states and had it sent over ‘definite technology’. .. no problem with current difference.. emailed the company about it and they said it wouldn’t matter … hasn’t

  3. Order stuff from the U.S. all the time. Biggest I have is no 3 prong outlets in the house.
Pc parts, tv speakers, etc. No issues. Just have to get adapters if the device uses 3 prongs.
