I noticed that whenever i hear the flush of the toilets from the apartments above me, it triggers a sudden sewage odor, is this normal or the pipes are busted?
I mean… if you in a shitty old apartment a lot of stuff gonna become normal.
How long you been there. How long it happening
Are there any sinks or drains that you have not used yet?
Drains have a u-shaped section that needs to be filled with water to prevent smells from coming in. The water can evaporate if the drain hasn’t been used in a long time, causing what you describe.
In many older places there are no traps under sinks or under the washing machine tub or elsewhere. So if, for instance, you have a tub for a washing machine, but nothing connected to it, then you should close that thing off good.
