Hello fellow Japan dwellers,
I currently have a regular Hikari (1 Gig) connection in my apartment. My apartment came with optical (fiber) outlets. When I contracted my current Hikari ISP, they didn’t have to do any construction and just mailed me the ONU and I connected it by myself to the optical outlet.
Currently I’m looking to moving on to a 10 Gig connection (enHikari). I was wondering if there’ll be any construction involved. I’m worried if I’ll need to get any permission for that from the management company and they might not allow it.
Additionally, I was wondering if I should choose v6 Plus (MAP-E) vs Xcross (DS-Lite). I was intending to run a home server that would be accessed from remote. As well as running a wireguard client on my router, so I can access other countries streaming services on my TV

MAP-E is hands down better than DS-Lite. AFAIK, Mape gives you a constant range of ports where as DSLite is dynamically allocated.
wg client on your router should not care unless you’re IP-locked on it.
Had Hikari Cross installed with en Hikari. I had to reserve a date for construction, did not need to get permission from building management. No construction is required the contractor came and just brought a fiber optic wire in through the back of the wall power socket. Probably won’t need to do even that if you already have a fiber outlet.
I went with v6 Plus, had some trouble with it using a TP Link router, changed it out for an NEC router and it’s been rock solid ever since.
