First, thanks to u/sirgrotius for putting me on to this place. I was in Philly last night for only the night on short notice and wanted an omakase. This place was amazing, great atmosphere, excellent chef and fantastic sushi.
From the top left working right bottom: 1. Salmon roe caviar 2. Toro on a tortilla with truffle and caviar 3. Salmon tomato with a vinegar miso sauce 4. Kinmedai, Japanese golden eye snapper 5. Aji, Japanese mackerel 6. Hamachi, 7 day aged Japanese amber jack 7. Hotate, Hokkaido scallops with Hokkaido sea urchin 8. Akami, lean blue fun tuna from Spain 9. Sawara, king mackerel 10. Kasugo, Japanese baby snapper with egg 11. Matsutake, clear mushroom soup 12. Madai, Japanese sea bream 13. Nodoguro, seared 7 day aged sea Japanese sea bream 14. Shima aji, Japanese striped jack 15. Sanma, Japanese pike mackerel 16. Botan ebi, Japanese sweet shrimp with uni paste 17. Double toro, 30 day aged fatty tuna belly 18. Seared Spanish King Salmon with foei gras and truffle sauce 19. Futomaki with uni, scallop, snapper, mackerel, salmon roe, and shiso leaf 20. Black Sesame ice cream with pistachio
The rice was incredible, the texture, you can feel each grain of rice, it was at perfect body warmth temperature, the flavor was out of this world. It just paired so well.
My favorites were the salmon tomato, it was an incredible flavor bomb. Never had anything like it. The pike mackerel, double toro, king salmon with the foie gras, Futomaki roll.
Great experience 10/10. Cost was 158 usd and byob.
Sakana was my 1st Omakase experience ever, it was fantastic! Makes me want to go back looking at these pictures
Looking really nice!
Can I ask what the difference between this and a fancy deluxe sushi combo is, what makes this an omakase?
Yummy ☺️ 😋
I’ll have to check this place out, looks really good! I don’t get down to that area of the city much, but might have to make a trip for this 🙂
