Great news: Super Mario RPG (switch) has furigana!

\*\***Caution**: I bought the game on the Japanese e-shop, I do not know if the Japanese language version is available in other regions

Anyone looking to practice Japanese with video games can get stuck in with this remade classic that released today (so far seems like a pretty faithful remaster!). Mario RPG has a good balance between dialogue and action so it should be great practice without getting overwhelmed.

Only problem is that when characters speak during a battle, there is no push-to-progress, so it moves faster than I’d like.

Take a screenshot when this happens and just go take your time looking at it in your photo library. It’s what I do all the time, specially with Chinese, when I know text will go off screen automatically…I don’t like to feel pressured lol

This is the next game I’ll check out….in about a month 😀

  2. I always found the SMRPG Japanese text to be so fascinating with all of its pop culture references that were lost in translation. I wonder if they’re keeping the original script?
