Buying Logitech keyboards (not Logicool) in Japan

I’m looking to buy a new mechanical keyboard and I have my eye on either the Logitech G815 or G915.

Japan has plenty of places where I can buy the Japanese version of these, the G813 and G913, but I’m not interested in using a Japanese layout keyboard.

Has anyone seen a shop selling the Western versions? I live near Akihabara so one there would be great but I’m willing to travel a bit to get one.

thanks in advance!

  1. bhphoto.com has both in stock and will ship to Japan. You might also find them on eBay or US Amazon.

The selection of US layout keyboards available in Japan is limited and you will generally pay a premium for a niche product.

  2. I know you don’t want to hear it, but it’s really just the apostrophe and at-mark that are different in daily use. A Japanese keyboard is not at all inconvenient for typing in English. Jumping through hoops to import the international version will definitely be more of a pain than adjusting, especially if you’ll be here for longer than a second. If you won’t, then just buy it after you leave.

  3. Have you considered looking at tskumo or visiting the local keyboard shop in akihabara? They’ll have us key layout on smaller brands. Big brands tend to switch to Japanese layout.

  4. I searched pretty hard for a logitech 815 tactile and no luck. The closest thing I could find were some RAZR keyboards that had the English layout albeit at a 20% markup. I had to get my friend to bring one over for me from the states.

  5. I feel like most of the big stores in Akihabara have US layout keyboards, especially on the high end. Loads of Japanese people get those (“loads” = “some nerds do”). I’ve bought US layout keyboards at Yodobashi and seen them at Tsukumo (I think).

Just go wandering around the big box stores and look. Any place with a mechanical keyboard section is going to have options

  6. I understand the want to buy from a local shop but there is limited availability to western keyboards especially niche (I use the term loosely) items like mechanical keyboards. Best bet is Newegg, US Amazon or BHPhoto as someone else suggested.

If you are from the US / EU just buy it online, and have some one ship it to you. I’ve done this before with my router and some other tech items that aren’t up to scratch in Japan and cost an arm and a leg. Just adding some perspective.
