Hello everyone,
I plan to apply for English teaching positions in Japan and would greatly appreciate it if someone could share an example of a resume tailored to this field. I’m particularly interested in understanding the preferred format and critical skills or experiences that should be highlighted for these roles. I have a bachelor’s degree but am unsure how best to present this information to the Japanese market. Any advice or examples would be constructive. Also, I should mention that I live here on a spouse visa.
Thank you so much in advance for your assistance!

Highlight that you have a degree and speak English. Should do the trick.
All they care about is that you speak English, have a pulse, and aren’t *too* terribly repulsive.
When I had a group interview in the states for an alt position, the only guy who didn’t get picked for a second round was the one who made a joke about the atomic bombings in front of everyone, so don’t do that.
There are more appropriate subs for your questions. I suggest you check out and ask your questions in r/ALTinginjapan and r/teachinginjapan and leave these nice people here alone.
Have a bachelors degree, don’t be a criminal. Done – also I’d suggest not applying for the job in general as you will do all the work for teachers and get paid not even a fraction what they do. It’s a crappy deal.
